When buying a pool in New Jersey, it will be important to consider the following; budget, pool type, local zoning regulations, space and climate.  We’ll take a closer look at each of these considerations below.

Budget

Your budget will determine the type of swimming pool you will be able to afford, not only as it concerns size and the materials (vinyl, fiberglass, concrete, gunite) used to build the pool but upkeep. Many homeowners, unfortunately, don’t consider the ongoing costs of maintenance. Chemical treatments, filters, a pump, water and electricity bills are all costs that the homeowner will need to set money aside for in order to keep the pool in good working condition.

Pool Type

Homeowners will have to decide early on whether they would prefer an inground or above ground pool. The former tend to me more expensive then the latter. Homeowners may also have an aesthetic preference. Some people prefer the look and style of an inground pool, while others do not. Some individuals and families will just want a pool, and subsequently, don’t really care about whether it is inground or above ground.

Local Zoning Regulations

It will be important to determine what the local zoning regulations in your area of New Jersey are. If you have any questions about going about this, give us a call at 732-707-7665.

Space

Many homeowners make the mistake of having too small of a pool installed. This is often due to the fact that swimming pools look much bigger when they are not filled up with water. It is only after installation and time spent in the pool does a family realize that it is a bit smaller then they would have liked. To avoid this, it is often best to buy as big a pool as one can afford and which meets the homeowner’s needs and vision for their backyard.

Climate

Because New Jersey is a four-season (winter, fall, summer, spring) state, homeowners may want to consider buying a heated pool. This will allow them to enjoy the pool throughout the year and not just during the winter.
